A Note on Research

The research process to uncover all of the information about these magnificent families is a blend of technologies, paperwork sifting, and oral tradition. Family color--which has at times included my grandmother referring to a long-deceased relative in less-than-delicate terms--has dotted my narratives, coating the skeletal framework of birth dates, death dates, and other timeline events. Some of this framework came from hand-written or typewriter-generated family trees dating back decades, the backs of old photographs, and a small handful of original documents that survived many generations and clumsy moves. The bulk of the framework, however, has been picked from the various online databases of genalogical records. Because these databases are so vast and accessible, I will not burden this site with links to or copies of the dozens upon dozens of census records, death records, and more that can easily be found across the web.

Below you will find links to the most important sites for my research, as well as a few resources that were a little harder to unearth. Much like my Grandmother's observations about a certain Aunt that was, at best, a little dramatically eccentric, you won't find these by searching the genealogical databases. Most of these are rare gems that have been uncovered through sheer dumb luck or red-eyed, latenight, overly-intense searches through the bowels of the Internet. Or a couple of these--such as our family's photo database--have been carefully constructed by me. They are assembled here on this page, though, for the purpose of aiding in your own research. Perhaps you can unlock secrets that I have not yet. And if you do, I certainly hope you will enjoy and share your findings.

If you every have any questions about the research methods and findings used during my work, or if you have new information to add to this family's story, please contact me at the email address listed at the bottom of this page.
